Cigna Coverage Availability & Fees
When enrolling in a Cigna dental insurance plan, you will find there are many to choose from. It’s important that before you just select the first one you see that you spend time examining the differences and determining which one works best for your needs. Monthly premiums, deductibles, annual maximums, and even co-payments may differ, but many of the coverage levels look similar, such as:
- 80-100% preventive services
- 70-80% minor restorative services
- 50-70% major restorative services
Anytime you are preparing for major restorative treatment (i.e., tooth extractions, wisdom tooth extractions, bone grafting, oral pathology, etc.), you must first meet your deductible, as this is the only way your insurer will agree to cover more of the percentage fees for the services you receive. Also, you must take into consideration your annual maximum. This is the allotted amount provided to you by your insurance company. If you go over at any point throughout the year, you’ll be expected to pay the remaining balance. As an in-network provider, however, we may be able to spread out your treatments across calendar years to help you avoid these additional expenses.
But remember, you are not obligated to choose an in-network provider. We will still be happy to see you even if we are not in-network with your insurance company, but you’ll likely be required to pay more.
