Ensuring a Smooth, Straightforward Surgery

A successful oral surgery depends on cooperation between the surgeon and the patient. We’ll ensure that you have all the information you need to make good decisions, and we’ll make the necessary preparations so you have an enjoyable, comfortable experience. All we need for you to do is follow any instructions we give you prior to the treatment in order to make sure that your appointment goes smoothly with as few complications as possible. Here are some general instructions that you’ll be asked to follow (other instructions will be provided as needed).

**Please Read Preoperative instructions FOR IV Sedation ONLY**

  • The day before surgery, eat a good meal. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight or before surgeryIf you have consumed any food or water, your surgery will be rescheduled. (You will be charged a facility fee of $100 if surgery must be rescheduled). Consumption of ANY food, liquid, coffee, gum, candy, mints, ice can cause vomiting with administration of IV Anesthesia, leading to aspiration (inhalation of vomit into lungs), choking, pneumonia and possible death.
  • NO RECREATIONAL DRUG USE OR MARIJUANA SMOKING ALLOWED 48 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY! If you do smoke within 48 hours of your surgery, we will have to reschedule your surgery and there will be a $200 rescheduling fee. 
  • If you must take regular AM medications, you may only take them with 1 teaspoon of water – as early as possible. If your surgeon - Dr Anver or Dr Chan, requested you to take a pre-medication 1 hour before your surgery time, please take with 1 teaspoon of water only.
  • Dress in comfortable, clean, loose-fitting clothing. Must wear a short sleeve t-shirt and closed toed shoes. NO long sleeves, NO flip flops, NO house shoes
  • Do not wear cosmetics. On your pointer finger we CANNOT have acrylic, gel, or dip nails. NO dark nail polish, and your nail MUST be kept short.
  • We read your oxygen levels through your nailbed during surgery to make sure we are maintaining adequate oxygenation!
  •  Please arrange for someone to bring you to your surgical appointment, you must inform them they must stay in our office the entire duration of your surgery.
  •       Driver must be of age to drive with a valid I.D.   Uber/Lyft drivers are not acceptable.

**For all types of surgery- see below**

  • Minors: a LEGAL Parent or Guardian must accompany the patient the day of surgery.
  •  The remaining amount due for your surgery will be collected the day before surgery.      We accept CREDIT/DEBIT Cards.    (NO CASH or PERSONAL CHECKS)
  • MEDICAID PATIENTS: Medicaid DOES NOT pay our services at 100%, there will be a co-pay with your patient’s surgery.
  • The only person allowed back in the surgical room will be the patient & surgical staff. 

***Family members/Drivers are not allowed in the surgical rooms, because our operatories are a sterile environment. ***

  •  If you require a school excuse or work note, we will provide you with one the day you come in for surgery, please ask the front office staff to provide you with one.
  •  If you would like to make changes to your treatment plan, you will need to notify our office 48 hours prior to your surgery date. Changes to treatment the day of surgery will result in your surgery appointment to be rescheduled.
  • Please keep in mind that due to unforeseen circumstances scheduled surgeries may be delayed, we will do our best to keep you informed of any delays, please keep your phone close.
  • Please DO NOT smoke for at least 24 hours prior to and 48 hours after your appointment. Nicotine and tar adversely affect normal healing.
  • Do not ingest alcoholic beverages for a minimum of 24 hours prior to and 48 hours after your appointment or surgery.
